1. Connect to the NEIU-GetConnected wireless network.

A window may automatically appear. Close the window, then open Safari and type in the web address:

https://npass1.neiu.edu/guest/getconnected.php 

2. On the next window, click on the Get Started button.

3. Enter your NetID and password. Click the checkbox next to “I accept…”, then click on Log In.

4. Click on Install Certificate. The certificate will be downloaded to your computer.

5. Click on Install Profile. The configuration profile will be downloaded to your computer and may be automatically placed into System Settings. If it did not, you can locate it in your downloads folder and run it manually.

6. (macOS 15) Go to System Settings —> General —> Device Management.

(macOS 14) Go to System Settings —> Privacy & Security and select Profiles.

7. Locate the Device Enrollment profile and double-click to install it. Follow the prompts to install it.

8. Open your Downloads folder and locate the certificate file that was downloaded in step 4. The file should be named mdps_profile.php.cer. Double-click on the certificate. When prompted, change the Keychain to System and click on the Add button.

9. In the Keychain Access app, click on System in the left column. Then click on the Certificates tab in the top row. Locate the certificate named Northeastern Illinois University Local Certificate Authority. It should have a red X on its icon. Double-click on the certificate to open it.

10. Open the Trust section by clicking on the disclosure triangle.

In the option: “When using this certificate” select Always Trust.

Close the certificate window. The computer will prompt you to enter your computer password to approve the changes to the certificate.

11. You can now connect to the NEIU-Secure encrypted network.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your password has expired, some services such as connecting to our NEIU secured network will not work properly. To change your password, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to http://neiuport.neiu.edu 
2. Click on the link beneath the login box that says “Reset Your Password”.
3. Enter your current NEIUport user ID and Password.
4. You may be asked to answer a series of security questions. If so, please do so and submit the answers.
5. Next, click on My Accounts . You can enter your new password in the following window. Please follow the mandatory password rules listed on the page.
6. Try the instructions again to connect to the NEIU-Secure network.

My laptop automatically chooses the NEIU-GetConnected network and I have to manually switch it to the NEIU-Secure network each time. How do I set it so it chooses NEIU-Secure automatically? 

1. Go to System Settings —> Network. 
2. Click on Wi-Fi. 
3. Under Known Networks, click on three dots to the right of NEIU-GetConnected and select Forget This Network.

I no longer want to connect to the NEIU-Secure network. How do I remove the profile?

1. (macOS 15) Go to System Settings —> General —> Device Management. (macOS 14) Go to System Settings —> Privacy & Security and select Profiles.
2. Select Device Enrollment. 
3. Tap on the minus sign at the bottom of the window to delete it.
