Podium Connection Instructions

Use the Silver remote to turn on the projector

Source Selection

  1. The only input that you will ever need to select on the silver remote is HDMI (#6).
    1. All switching of sources is done automatically or via your plugging in device.

 

HDMI Laptop connection

  1. To use a Laptop’s HDMI connection connect the provided HDMI cable to the PC.

 

     2. The HDMI Cable also sends audio to the projector yet you may need check your system preferences to verify that audio is routed to HDMI or Crestron.

**Macintosh laptops sometimes require an adapter to connect to either HDMI or VGA cables**

Troubleshooting:

Each input has an assigned number on the black Crestron box on the shelf next to the Blu-Ray player. Each number has an LED light that shows signal to that input. Typically, the following applies: 1 = Apple TV, 2 = HDMI, 3. = Blank, 4. = VGA. If you do not see a light then no input is detected and you have a connection issue. Otherwise, the input being displayed shines green, and any other source waiting to be selected shines orange.  If you need another input to display, push the designated button (if Orange) on the black box and you can switch to your device.

  1. For Wired internet connection connect the Ethernet cable to your laptop.

  1. If you hook up to our wireless access please click on the link General Wireless access. If you are trying to connect to the Unsecured wireless access click on this link We suggest this link.

VGA Laptop

  1. To use a laptop’s VGA connection, connect the provided VGA cable to your PC.
  2. Connect the mini audio cable to your PC head phone jack. 

Be sure the audio is routed the headphone or external speaker.

  1. Turn off the Blu-Ray player.  The ON/OFF button is on the top front of the player. Be sure Apple TV is not on.
  2. Be sure that the Crestron Auto switcher is selected to input 4.

If the Blu-Ray player is on, it will always override the VGA connection!

  • Please remember to mirror your image by either pressing FN + F8 or + P ( Select mirror or Duplicate image). If these options do not work you might have to go to Graphic display options and may need further help. If so please contact us at the number below.
  • Mac users click the Mac symbol  choose System Preferences. Choose displays click arrangement tab. In lower left corner of the Arrangement pane select “Mirror displays”

NOTE: If you do not have VGA you will need to get your own adapter. Click on the ADAPTERS link and you can see the different types of adapters that are available and will have to purchase.

Turning on and off the Apple TV

If Apple TV not on automatically

Turning on

  • Apple TV (3rd gen. and earlier): Hold down the Menu and Down buttons together for about 10 seconds.

Turning off 

  • Apple TV (3rd gen. and earlier): While in the main menu, hold down the Play/Pause button for 5 seconds. (the device will go to sleep anywhere from 1.5 to 2 seconds).
  1. Press HDMI #6 ( on Projector remote)
  2. Be sure Apple tv is only device on. Turn off all other devices.

        2. Be sure to hit the Menu button on the Apple tv remote to wake the apple tv from sleep mode.

        3. You should see the  TV login screen.

  • In some cases the  TV will be asleep or on another screen. If so use the  Tv remote Menu button to navigate back to conferenc mode.
  • Make sure that your wireless device. (iPhone, iPad or Mac latop) is using NEIU unsecured wireless network. Otherwise your device will not find the  TV .
  • Using Airplay on your Mac device, find the   TV for your classroom. It should be named after the room that you are in. Then select that  TV.
  • A 4-digit code will appear on the projector screen. Enter that code into the box that appears on you Apple device.
  • If you have followed the steps correctly, the projector screen should be mirroring your device.
    • PLEASE NOTE: There are some restrictions on what your iPhone and iPad will display.

       Be sure when done using the apple TV is put back into sleep mode.


 

  • To Turn off the Projector, press the power OFF button on the remote control
  • You will need to press the same button again to confirm.
  • Please turn off the main power to any other devices that you might have turned on.

Please shut down Projector at end of class

You will need to press the power button a second time to confirm shutdown.
